Led by Prof. Enos Njeru, the Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the University of Nairobi Travelling Theatre expressed their desire to make the University of Nairobi a ‘hub of film.’

The theatre group and the Department of Literature has among other things been at the forefront in the development of drama and film curriculum in the country. They also mentor secondary schools in the country in the development of drama and film.

On his part, Prof. Peter Mbithi, the Vice-Chancellor, pledged to support the students in their endeavors to produce high quality films and showcase quality plays. He urged the students to be entrepreneurs and to nurture their talents, create films and create businesses.

“The university must influence society and become relevant,” he said. “I urge you to take your academic endeavors seriously and together with the film talents, they can spew abundant blessings to the society. Ideas precede resources. Put your ideas, dreams and intellect together and you will definitely get the funding,”
