UoN community joins the Chinese community in Confucius Institute Day Celebrations.

The University of Nairobi community joined the Chinese community in celebrating the Confucius Institute Day at the University of Nairobi, Main Campus on Friday, October, 6, 2017.

The celebrations were attended by many dignitaries among them the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Dr. Liu Xianfa, who urged Kenya and China to continue the good relations between the two countries as it improves bilateral trade. “Friendship and goodwill provide strongest force for bilateral relations”, he said.

The bilateral relations between Kenya and China has seen the growth and development of various infrastructural projects in Kenya key among them are: The University of Nairobi Towers, Thika Superhighway and the Standard Gauge Railway. The SRG project has not only opened up Kenya to the rest of the world and improved trade, but it has also provided many jobs to the young people who work on the railway line and the locomotive train. The two nations continue to enjoy warm relations and improved bilateral trade and tourism. The latest visitors to the University being Chinese leading businessman, Jack Ma, CEO, Alibaba Group, who visited the University in June.

The Ambassador, also took the opportunity to thank the event sponsors:  University of Nairobi, Donghua University, Confucius Institute Headquarters ( Hanban ).  The event was organized by ; Donghua University Art Education Center,  Donghua University Student Art Troupe, Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi.
