UoN VC in a consultative meeting with the School of Business

Lecturers from the University of Nairobi, School of Business, held consultative meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi where they presented a Memorandum to him on November, 8, 2017, at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, CHSS.

Speaking during the consultative meeting, Prof. Peter Mbithi thanked the School of Business for ranking highly globally and for leading in innovation and creativity. He challenged the dons to take up opportunities in research from the National Research Fund. The lecturers were also told to take up the challenge of writing high impact research papers and publications that will bring grants to the university.

Prof. Mbithi promised to improve the working conditions for the lecturers despite the harsh economic conditions that have bedeviled the economy. Among the issues to be looked into include: security, infrastructure, staff promotions and research among others.

In his concluding remarks, the Vice-Chancellor observed that lecturers and student strikes do heavily impact on the smooth operations of the university and hence the management is working hard to avert such situations in the future.

Dr. James Njihia, Dean, School of Business promised to make the school, the gold standard despite the strong competition from other universities in the country. The school has in the recent past added new programs to attract students from the corporate world. Such programs include: Executive Development Program and entrepreneurship programs for women in business.
