Prof. Gilbert Ogutu from Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies presented his centenary book titled “All Saints Cathedral Church Centenary Book 1917-2017” to the Vice Chancellor.

The book, which is a dedication of cathedral history, focuses on the early church, the Reformation, Christian missions to Africa and underscores the presence of the Cathedral as a fountain of spiritual nourishment and a perfect venue to win souls of Christ. It traces the history of the Anglican church of Kenya back to 1917.

Speaking during the presentation, Prof. Ogutu, a Professor of Church history, described the process of writing the splendid book as an academic exercise that needed a lot of resource dedication and humbleness because it was a service to the church in Kenya and the world.

“I was commissioned by the Cathedral to write this Centenary book,” He added.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi, deeply appreciated his work and enthusiasm towards research.

‘’Prof. Ogutu represents the spirit of a professor from the University of Nairobi. His centenary book reaffirms our commitment to impactful research and readiness to provide a premium learning experience to our students,” He said.

The centenary book was launched last year at All Saints’ Cathedral, the National Cathedral of the Anglican Church of Kenya, on 5th November during the celebration of her centenary anniversary (100 years). Some of the distinguished guests present were; President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Archbishop of Kenya, Archbishop of Canterbury, retired ACK Archbishops, provosts and former provosts. A copy was also presented to Her Majesty the Queen.
