Professor Nicholas Abinya Receives Distinguished Global Health Catalyst Award

Prof. Abinya, the head of section of Haematology/Oncology, Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics, University of Nairobi, has received global recognition for his contributions on health with focus on cancer and related diseases.

The Global Health Catalyst (GHC) summit at Harvard, is a premier yearly event designed to catalyze high impact international collaborations to eliminate global health disparities, with main focus on cancer and related diseases.

Prof. Abinya has played a significant role in the country’s health sector. The celebrated scholar was commended for his research work and publications on cancer and the setting up of the Cancer Centre in Kisumu. He is the Founder member and Chairman of the Kenya Society of Haematology and Oncology, former Vice-Chairman, European Society for Medical Oncology, a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology representing African affairs in the international affairs committee.
