The satellite named 1st Kenya University Nano Satellite Precursor Flight (1KUNS-PF) was successfully deployed from KIBO (a satellite deployment module) from the Japan Space Agency (JAXA) Tsukuba Space Centre in Tokyo, Japan.

The University of Nairobi, Kisumu Campus Complex was officially opened by the Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi. The launch was done on April 20, 2018 at the Kisumu Campus.

Speaking during the opening, Dr. Rattansi observed that Nyanza region has produced great people, some of them include:JaramogiOgingaOdinga, Barack Obama,Tom Mboya, Robert Ouko, Lupita Nyon’go, Grace Onyango and Raila Odinga, among others. With the establishment of the campus, the region is bound to produce more giants.

As part of its Annual Tree Planting initiative, the University of Nairobi community planted over 10,000 trees during the week of April 3- 6, 2018.

The climax of the exercise was on April 6, 2018, when 6,500 trees were planted at Wangari Maathai Campus at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences.

Speaking during the exercise, the Chief Guest, Prof. Japheth Ntiba, the Permanent Secretary for Higher Education, Ministry of Education, commended the University on its commitment to plant 10,000 trees.
