UON to forge partnership with China-Africa Institute
The University of Nairobi and the China- Africa Institute, China, have entered into discussions on possible areas of collaboration.
This was the agenda when the team from China based institute led by Associate Researcher, Dr. Wu Chuanhua paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor on October 22, 2019.
Prof. Isaac Mbeche, ag. Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the move saying that collaborations of mutual benefit to both parties are a priority for the University.
“Over the years, the University has established many partnerships with Chinese institutions and we are proud to host he biggest Confucius Institute,” he said.
The areas of possible collaboration include staff and student exchange programmes, joint research and joint publication of journals by both institutions.
On his part Dr. Chuanhua welcomed UoN scholars to be part of the Journal of China-Africa Studies.
“The Institute aims to enhance mutual learning between Chinese and African civilizations and to strengthen exchanges of their experience in governance and development,” he said. “We seek to provide intellectual and talent support for the "Belt and Road" construction collaboration, and for comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership facing the future between China and Africa to build a closer China-Africa community with a shared future.”
