TOPIC: CIVIL SOCIETIES' NARRATIVES AND POLICY TRANSLATIONS ON PASTORALISTS' CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION

Alphonce Mollo is a PhD fellow at the University of Copenhagen and University of Nairobi. His research interrogates the role of Civil Society Organizations(CSOs) in supporting pastoralists' adaptation strategies to climate change.

It has been recognized that CSOs play an integral part in climate adaptation practices as they are involved in both macro-level climate governance negotiations processes and micro-level projects aimed at improving household's response to climate impacts.

The CSOs are also playing a role in enhancing the participation of vulnerable communities in climate action. However, CSOs legitimacy has also been questioned as they are viewed as predominantly urban-based and elitist. This study systematically investigates the agency of CSOs in pastoralists' adaptation strategies for climate change.
