WHO raises concern over rising COVID-19 cases in Kenya

The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised concerns over the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in Kenya, which they attribute to laxity and lack of compliance in observing the containment measures by most Kenyans.

Warning about the pandemic stage, the global health body called on the government to enforce containment measures to flatten the curve. This even as 679 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours bringing the national caseload to 28,104.

UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI'S 63RD GRADUATION TO BE HELD VIRTUALY

The University of Nairobi will hold its 63rd Graduation Ceremony as earlier planned. The ceremony will be held virtually due to the Covid-19 Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) Measures as directed by MoH.

The Chief Medical Officer, University of Nairobi through the Registrar Academic issued Guidelines on how this will be effected.

M-Pesa tops Africa with Sh1.6 trillion monthly deals

Mobile money platform M-Pesa is now processing transactions of Sh1.6 trillion per month in Kenya and other African countries, making it the largest payment platform on the continent.

The broader performance of M-Pesa has been disclosed by South Africa’s Vodacom Group which owns the financial service on a 50/50 basis with Safaricom

.

Vodacom also owns a 35 percent stake in Safaricom. The two firms teamed up in April to acquire the M-Pesa brand from their London-based parent firm Vodafone Group Plc through their investment vehicle M-Pesa Global Services Limited.
