Speaking during the event, Margaret Njue, Diageo Africa Technical Safety Manager, outlined in detail her journey from campus to the top of the Nairobi Securities Exchange listed manufacturing giant. She explained the ups and downs in her journey working for several companies before finally joining EABL. She encouraged students to take what comes their way and avoid choosing jobs. “In my first job, after my boss was promoted, I knew for sure that I would automatically fill his position. Shock on me, a gentleman was recruited and I was ignored.

A glimpse into Agriculture without borders in the Desert: Arava 2020 Open Day

The 29th Open day was a large agricultural show that brought together farmers from the entire Arava region to come and showcase their agricultural services and products. Over the years, this Agricultural Exhibition has reputed itself as an outstanding professional event that attracts big audiences and visitors from the entire Arava region and the rest of Israel. Visitors got the opportunity to interact with over 200 business companies displaying the latest innovations in the field of Agriculture and also selling their products.

 

The 11th Kapek Kenya mathematical Olympiad KKMO

The 11th Kapek Kenya mathematical Olympiad KKMO  is the rebranded Kenya Mathematical Olympiad is a high school competition that aims to select the Kenyan teams to the International Mathematical Olympiad and the Pan African Mathematical Olympiad. This is the 11th edition and the first round is on the 12th of March 2020. The first round is conducted at the schools .  The first round consists of the Junior and the Senior category. The top 200 students in the senior category and the top 100 students in the Junior category will be invited for the second round.

UoN to Launch an International Research Project on Diaspora Humanitarianism in Complex Crises (D-Hum)

The Institute for Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Nairobi will be implementing the research project in partnership these institutions.  IDS will also be training three PhD students who have been competitively recruited to join the research project. The students will be trained at the University of Nairobi; and the University of Copenhagen in Denmark in the next four years.

Going Green: Inter-university Engineering Students Symposium

Israel has been a strong partner in supporting the University of Nairobi innovation ecosystem, dubbed, Nairobi Innovation Week, since its inception in 2014. During its launch, the Israel Embassy brought in Saul Singer, the author of Start Up Nation, who gave a keynote address on Israel's technology innovation and start up ecosystem. Saul Singer, spoke of the challenges, the success stories they have had in the past. He opined that the revenue from technology innovation has since surpassed revenue from agriculture.
