Engineering scholars to benefit from collaboration with Chinese university

The University of Nairobi (UoN) and Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), China, have signed a memorandum of understanding that will see engineering students and lecturers benefit from.

NPU is a multidisciplinary and research oriented institute in china that is developing education and research programmes in the fields of aeronautics, astronautics and marine technology engineering.


“Northwestern Polytechnical reached out to us and expressed an interest in collaborating with us,” said the ag. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Mbeche. “Collaborations with China are very important having seen the benefits of these joint ventures to our students and staff.”


The MOU which was signed on July 19, 2019 will see the two universities collaborate in joint research, engineering teaching, learning and research and exchange programmes.


“We are delighted to be here and excited that we are entering into this collaboration,” remarked the President, Northwestern Polytechnical University.


Prof. Julius Ogeng’o, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs and Prof. Madara Ogot, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Enterprise, are among those who witnessed the MoU signing.
